What maintenance is required for outdoor IP65 displays?

If you’ve just invested in an outdoor IP65 display, you already know they aren't exactly cheap. While an IP65 rating means your screen is   "weatherproof" against rain and dust, it doesn't mean it’s "set it and forget it."

Think of an outdoor display like a car: even the most rugged 4x4 needs an oil change and a car wash to keep running. If you want your   VETO LCD screen to stay bright and clear for the next five to ten years, here is the honest truth about what you actually need to do.

Don't let the "Face" get filthy

The front glass takes the brunt of the weather. Dust, pollen, and smog build up quickly, which doesn't just look bad—it actually traps heat.

The Human Way: Gently wipe the screen with a soft cleaning cloth (microfiber cloth). Avoid using rough paper towels or towels to prevent scratching the surface. For stubborn stains, apply a small amount of screen cleaner or distilled water. Do not spray liquid directly.

The "Never" List: Do not use alcohol, ammonia, or strong acid/alkali cleaners, as these may damage the coating or panel.

Check the "Lungs" (Ventilation)

IP65 displays are sealed, but they still need to breathe to stay cool. Most units use fans to circulate air.

The Real-World Issue: Insects love the warmth of electronics, and spider webs are notorious for clogging up intake vents.

The Fix: Every few months, take a soft brush or a vacuum and clear the vents. If your unit has a filter, pull it out and shake it off. If it’s   clogged, the internal temperature will spike, and your screen will dim itself to "self-protect"—leaving you with a dark, unreadable display.

The "Touch Test" for Seals

The rubber gaskets are the only thing standing between a rainstorm and a short circuit. Over time, the sun’s UV rays can dry out this   rubber. The Maintenance Task: Twice a year, run your finger along the door seals. Do they feel soft and springy? Or are they starting   to feel brittle and "crunchy"? If theyre drying out, a tiny bit of silicone grease goes a long way. If they're cracked, replace them immediatel. Its a $20 fix that saves a $2,000 screen.

Watch for "Ghosting" or Condensation

Even with an IP65 rating, the air trapped inside has moisture. Rapid temperature swings (like a cold night followed by a hot morning) can   cause fogging inside the glass.

The Fix: Most VETO LCD displays have internal heaters to handle this. If you see fogging that doesn't go away after   an hour of the screen being on, it’s time to check if your internal heating element is working or if a seal has a slow leak.

The "Spring Cleaning" Checklist

If you’re managing a fleet of these, here is your quick "Once-a-Season" cheat sheet: Wipe it down: Clean glass = better visibility.

Clear the Vents: Remove dust, webs, and debris.Tighten the Bolts: Vibrations from wind or nearby traffic can loosen mounting hardware   over time.Check the Brightness: Make sure the light sensor isn't covered by bird droppings so it can dim properly at night.
